We went out for lunch at Savanas, located near Stocklands at Weatherill Park (around a twenty minute drive from lovely old Cabramatta), for Pete's mother's birthday. It started off badly since there was no parking, due to renovations. Fortunately, there are plenty of suburban streets around where you can make do outside someone's house (even if it is still a good walk back to the restaurant).
Having previously agreed to be only vegetarian for convenience, I took advantage of their gluten-free pizza bases and got the Mediterranean gourmet pizza. It was delicious but wasn't the best pizza, but it was definitely the best GF base I've ever had. Also, I have an obsession with lemon-water, did you know?
For dessert, we ordered a ton of things. Their mango gelato, coated in white chocolate, looked and tasted the most incredible. For pairing with coffee though, nothing beats hazelnut gelato. I kept dumping lumps of into my soy cappuccino to make a super-sweetened hazelnut cap. A little extravagant, but so good.
It is right next to Weatherill Park Library, which I have been intending to check out. I noticed they had a drive-through return box. How neat is that?!
