Happy Halloween

Around a year and a half ago, I had the pleasure of meeting and falling in love with a man who values 'tradition'.
These traditions are often not cultural, but personal associations for things being the way they are simply because they are, and almost always have been.
Change is sometimes accepted, often just for the fear of going without (in most cases, read hungry) and with many worried grumbles and near-tearful eyes.
For example, the adding of olives to my burrito rice mix ('They go on top of the filling!'), or nachos now made with a tomato-salsa ('Nachos are corn chips, beans, and cheese' - err, cheese substitute...)
Other things are not met with such tolerance, but instead with a firm, wide gaze and an almost robotic exclamation: 'Tradition!'
Monster Madness is one of these latter traditions. Created by the brilliant James Rolfe (of Angry Video Game Nerd fame), they are a near-daily released set of monster and scary movie reviews. This year, we have the fantastic theme of the 80s to get us in the Halloween mood.
So, as tradition dictates, we must watch them in the right order, with the right company (his charming elder brother and our lovely dog), and with lots of treats. Rounds go on, and sometimes records are kept, as we swing between sweet and savoury, until, finally, we are too full to take another bite.
Fortunately for me, this is my second year taking part in Monster Madness. I love it, but having the smallest stomach in the room, I'm usually out before everyone else in regards to snacks. One day I'll make it to the championships, I'm sure.
So, this October, why not do a big junk food shop, grab some loved ones, and head over to www.cinemassacre.com ?
For those of you with Apple (shiver) products, the Cinemassacre app is available for $1.99.

Happy Halloween!
